I recently created a little slideshow demonstrating how great the BPA Free TITAN Water Bottle is for travelling and backpacking.

I took a TITAN prototype on my backpacking trip through Europe and it worked fantastically.  I also brought two aluminum water bottles for comparison.  The TITAN really was a league ahead of the other bottles for two reasons:

The first is that it is made from BPA free plastic so it has the advantage of not getting super cold or super hot when you put liquids in it.  I could barely hold the metal water bottles after putting coffee in them!

Secondly, the Titan’s built-in carabiner clip allowed me to clip it to my backpack when I wasn’t using it.  This proved invaluable as I was drinking a lot of water due to the hot Tuscan sun.  I could just reach back, unclip the Titan, open the valve, chug the water, close the valve, and re-clip the Titan to anywhere on my backpack – no more stopping and searching in my backpack every time I need a drink!

Though the Titan prototype has proved very convenient in all the activities I’ve done while using it, its patent-pending features make it especially handy when traveling and backpacking.

The slideshow features some pictures from my trip.  Enjoy!

Backpacking Equipment: The Best Backpacking Bottle Available

October 14th, 2008

Whether you are backpacking through Europe, Asia, or America, or just backpacking in the great outdoors, the BPA free TITAN Water Bottle is an essential piece of backpacking equipment.

What makes the TITAN a must-have for every backpacking checklist? Its built in carabiner for one!  You can conveniently clip it to any backpack or gear you are carrying.

Second is its one-hand, one-motion operation, which allows you to unclip the bottle, open the cap, chug the contents, and reclip it all with one hand and in one swinging motion!  No more stoping, taking off your backpack, unzipping, searching, having a drink, repacking, and reshouldering your backpack.  That should get every backpacker excited!

Finally, the BPA free TITAN has a standard 63mm cap that fits on any standard bpa free bottle and fits most backpacking bottle attachments (such as filters).

The TITAN is an excellent backpacking water bottle and I should know – I took it with me on my honeymoon backpaking in Europe!  I used two popular stainless steel bottles for comparison and the TITAN’s built in clip and one-handed operation combined with the thermal insulation of plastic made it the easy winner.

To help demonstrate the revolutionary functions of the BPA free TITAN, I have included this backpacking video, shot in Portland, OR.  Check it out!

Guidelines for limiting your family’s exposure to Bisphenol A (BPA).

October 11th, 2008

Have you heard? The FDA is finally reviewing their previous statement that our daily exposure to BPA is non-toxic. That’s great news for consumers, possibly damaging news to the plastics industry.  Even if the FDA’s findings on the toxicity of BPA are reversed, it will likely be a long time before we see BPA banned from food and beverage containers.

Until then, here is some advice for how to limit exposure to Bisphenol A from the National Toxicology Program:

  1. Watch out for bottles and containers labeled with the number 7 recycling code; these likely contain BPA
  2. Don’t microwave plastic containers unless you’re sure they are BPA free
  3. Limit intake of canned foods
  4. Search out BPA free water bottles and food containers

Have a great weekend adventuring, TITAN lovers!
